The choice between AdobeXD and Figma for design tools

At a glance

The post is a question from a content strategist who is working with a developer who wants to use Adobe XD instead of Figma, even though they are using Relume components. The community members discuss that this request from the developer seems odd, as Figma is a more updated and efficient program compared to XD. Some suggest trying to convince the developer to use Figma instead, as the whole team is already familiar with it. The comments also mention that Adobe has announced they will no longer develop and update XD, further questioning the developer's preference for it.

Question... I'm not a designer, just a content strategist, but the dev I'm working with says that they want everything in AdobeXD instead of Figma, even though we're using Relume components. What is the reason behind this?

Because they like and use Adobe XD and thatโ€™s the only reason

If they don't have another reason can you somehow bring them over to Figma? The transition is super easy and it's a much easier and updated program

Seems like an odd demand for a DEV to make...but yeah - same comments as above. ๐Ÿคท

Thanks, that's what I thought. It might come down to preference. Our whole team (non-design gang) knows Figma, so it seems odd to have 4-5 people learn a "new tool" if there is no reason other than personal preference. Does compression have anything to do w/ it? Maybe if the designer uses Illustrator and XD, it would be closer to spec perfect?

I'm out of my depth here, so would appreciate any insights.

Makes absolutely no sense, as XD is even worse than Figma and missing tons of features for efficiency... It seems like they are either lazy or cheap and dont want to pay another sub ๐Ÿ˜„

Just read that Adobe announced they won't further develop and update XD and even will give up on it and end its effort to create a web design product after the failed figma deal ๐Ÿ˜…

you made my day
